At our hotel we take sustainability very seriously. Being a hotel that helps preserve our magnificent surroundings and minimize the impact of tourism in this area is a priority and a responsibility for us. For this reason, we try to be a sustainable hotel in several aspects that we will discuss below:

Commitment to sustainability and ecology: certificates and concrete actions

Certificate of tourism sustainability

We have been the second establishment in Spain to obtain this certificate awarded by the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality
It certifies the protection of nearby ecosystems, the rational use of natural resources, the mitigation of climate change and the benefits for the social and cultural development of the surrounding communities.

We belong to Quartz Inn Hotels

The first chain of independent sustainable, unique and authentic hotels.

It certifies that we comply with its standards in procedures focused on sustainability and ecology.

14001 Certificate

We have the Environmental Certificate for hospitality services.

This implies the implementation of an Environmental Management system in which, from our sustainable hotel, we acquire the commitment to optimize the management of resources and waste, recycling everything we can. This helps reduce the negative environmental impacts derived from our activity.

100% renewable electricity certificate

We have the Energy Commitment Certificate that guarantees that 100% of the energy used in Bosque Mar comes from renewable sources

This is only the energy we receive from outside during the night hours since we produce most of it in the hotel with photovoltaic panels.

Electric car chargers

We currently have 2 chargers for electric cars in our facilities, thus continuing with our commitment to encourage the use of renewable energy.

We are also working on the construction of a small photovoltaic power plant for the production of electrical energy for our own consumption.

Solar panels

Since 2000, we have avoided the emission of approximately 2.5 million kilos of CO2 into the atmosphere, since each kilo of diesel fuel burned produces 2.3 kg of CO2.

This is because we heat the water with our 80 solar panels, thus avoiding the use of fossil fuels such as oil and its derivatives.

Own garden

Next to the hotel, we have our organic garden, from which we get many of the products we use for the dishes in our restaurant.

In keeping with our commitment to being an ecological hotel in Galicia, we use natural fertilizers without fertilizers. Among our vegetables and fruit we have: lettuce, peppers, padrón peppers, onions, leeks, tomatoes, beans, carrots, zucchini, pumpkin, eggplant, parsley, cucumber, fruits, lemons, oranges, pears or figs. With these products we make some of our star dishes such as the “Bosquemar Vegetable Stir-Fry”. This, apart from ensuring the quality of the products, makes our fruits and vegetables organic and seasonal.

Km0 products

We are in La Ría de Arousa, an area with fish and seafood of the highest quality. Therefore, we buy the fish directly from the O’Grove fish market, thus avoiding both transport and packaging.

And of course, we serve fresh seafood in our restaurant to ensure that your dining experience at Bosquemar is a luxury.
