PLAN 1: RELAX & GASTRONOMY IN GALICIA DISCOVERING RIAS BAIXAS
If you do not want to take the car and spend a day of your holidays in Galicia to relax, this plan is perfect.
In the morning you can walk to the nearest beaches to the hotel, Area Das Pipas beach (5 minutes walk) or Reboredo area (8 minutes walk). These beautiful beaches of fine sand are sheltered so they are very good for swimming and to go with children, due to its little waves.
At midday you can eat at one of the beach bars that you can find there and taste the delicious roasted fish.
For the afternoon you can come to rest at the hotel and relax in our outdoor pool or in the indoor pool, both with Jacuzzi and have a drink at the pool bar.
Late afternoon, a good plan to complete this holiday day in O’Grove, is to go to the town and stroll through the streets, through the marina and sit on one of the many terraces to enjoy the lively atmosphere of the summer months. As an alternative plan if you go with children and want to enjoy an entertaining family day, you can also go to the O’Grove aquarium, very close to the hotel.
For dinner you can stay around the town in one of its many restaurants, seafood restaurants or grocery stores or come to the hotel and dine here quietly. At the hotel we can recommend several restaurants in O Grove according to your tastes.
PLAN 2: AQUATIC SPORTS AND NATURE IN GALICIA
You will be at a hotel in the Rías Baixas: Take advantage of it and enjoy your holidays with our proposals. After gathering strength with our delicious breakfasts, you can start your holiday day at Las Rías Baixas by going to Mexilloeira Beach, one of the wildest on the peninsula. It is 15 minutes walk from the hotel (3 minutes by car) and on this beach you can practice water sports such as kitesurfing. You can also visit the lagoon A Bodeira.
To eat you can do it at Parrilla Tango. Then you can continue the route and get to know the archaeological remains of O Carreiro.
Everything can be done walking from the hotel.
In the afternoon you can take the car (or if you want to take a long walk) to go to La Isla de la Toja (10 minutes by car or 1 hour walk) to enjoy its nature, the sea, see the Ermita de las Conchas or do some shopping. And if you want to enjoy the good property of the thermal waters of the Toja, you can access the Hotel Balneario Isla de La Toja and relax in its extensive facilities.
PLAN 3: A LANZADA AND SAN VICENTE DO MAR
La Lanzada is one of the most famous beaches and therefore a place you can not miss during your holidays in Galicia without leaving the Rías Baixas. Therefore, you have to go one day to this vast virgin beach to the open sea where you can, apart from sunbathing and bathing, take the complete tour along its wooden promenade, parallel to the beach and half an hour long.
For lunch, you can go to the small tourist town of San Vicente Do Mar where you can enjoy the best of the estuary in one of its restaurants and then have a coffee or a drink in your famous nautical A Barrosa and hopefully listen to one of their concerts with world-class musicians, live.
In the afternoon one option may be to do one of the hiking routes that we propose in our section of hiking routes in Rías Baixas, the first two are very close to San Vicente.
If you do not want to go, another good holiday plan in Galicia is to opt for one of the car routes we propose in the same section
PLAN 4: BOAT RIDE, OENOLOGY AND GASTRONOMY
One of the most typical things to do on holiday in O Grove is the boat route along the estuary with a visit to the mussels with explanation and subsequent tasting of the exquisite mussels of the Ría D’Arousa. There are several companies that do this walk and can be hired right there. At the hotel we can provide all the information to do so.
To continue with the gastronomic route, on the way back you can eat at O’Grove in one of its best restaurants such as A solaina, Beiramar and if you want something different with the best of the land, Sal de Allo.
In the afternoon you can come to sleep a nap at the hotel pool and in the afternoon you have the option to continue with one of the many proposals that we raised in the previous section of hiking trails, by bike or car by the Rías Baixas or visit one of the many charming villages we have in the nearby Rias Baixas.
One of our preferred plans for a holiday in Galicia with a great gastronomic component is to go to Cambados, capital of D.O. Albariño and a charming town, to visit some winery (we can recommend some), the Ethnographic Museum of wine and walk among its pazos and noble houses with spectacular camellias giving the note of color.
PLAN 5: SANXENXO & PORTONOVO
To leave a bit of O Grove, along the coast road towards Portonovo and Sanxenxo you will also find beautiful beaches that you can not miss in your holidays in Las Rías Baixas, such as Paxariñas and Canelas. If you like to practice naturalism, one of the best nudist beaches in Galicia is Bascuas beach.
Continuing towards Portonovo, you can taste in some of its restaurants its typical dish, the skate, of which they celebrate a gastronomic party. If you prefer meats, the Mar Divino Restaurant with views of the harbor inlet can be an excellent option. To lower the food, in the Promenade ofSilgar of Sanxenxo you will find a very nice area, set, with many terraces, ice cream or whatever you like.
Sanxenxo and Portonovo are two of the most touristic places for a vacation in Galicia and a must visit within the Rías Baixas for its beauty and tourist offer. For all this and much more, during the summer months its streets are always very lively and the gastronomic and tourist offer is very wide. In addition, in this area there are a variety of very beautiful beaches and good services.
PLAN 6: CHARMING VILLAGES IN RIAS BAIXAS
In case some day you wake up cloudy, a good option for your holidays in Galicia is to know the fishing villages and nearby historic centers. Of all of them, Combarro stands out, the old town of Pontevedra and a little further away Santiago de Compostela (1 hour), the capital of Galicia, which throughout the year but especially in summer is flooded with pilgrims who end up here their “Camino de Santiago”.
In our section of routes and hiking you can also find in the lower part two proposals of routes by car to visit a large part of the charming villages of the area and soak up with their architecture and their deep seafaring tradition.
PLAN 7:CIES ISLANDS OR ONS ISLANDS
Entering the Atlantic Ocean you can visit both the Cies Islands, the best known and most crowded, or opt for the wildest Isle of Ons, closest to the hotel where from Portonovo (15 minutes from the hotel) you can take the catamaran that takes you, spend all day there and return at the end of the day.
If you come several days, visiting one of these two islands is something that you have to spend a day in your holidays in the Rias Baixas. To go to the Cies Islands you will have to go to Cangas de Morrazo or Vigo to catch the boat, so they are further away but are the most visited. If you leave from Vigo, you can take advantage of the return to give you a walk around the city.
The two options, Ons or Cíes, are very good and the beaches, landscapes, fauna and flora will leave you impressed. There you can make routes through the islands and enjoy white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters.
