O Grove

We can’t start this list with any other place. In this town, considered one of the most charming towns in Galicia, it is a must-see for its beauty and the variety of activities and visits.  The Necropolis of Adro Vello stands out, located on the edge of O Carreiro beach. A Roman villa, a necropolis, the floor plan of a church from the 2nd century BC and elements of a fortification are what you can find here.

Combarro

 On the banks of the Pontevedra estuary, this town, considered a historic complex of urban centres, is a seaside town where the seaside houses, the hórreos and the cruceiros are the main protagonists.

This picturesque and touristic town is undoubtedly one of the best examples of Galician rural architecture that you can find and an authentic town with charm in the Rías Baixas. Without a doubt, within its great heritage, there is one visit that stands out and that you cannot miss: Its more than 60 hórreos and its 7 cruceiros will leave you amazed!

Cambados

 One of the most beautiful villages in the area and probably one of the most famous charming villages in Galicia. The capital of Albariño, very close to our hotel in O’Grove, is a perfect place to enjoy wine tourism in the Rias Baixas and is located in the Ría D’Arousa. It is a town carved in granite, where its stately homes and manor houses along its three ancient and stately villages, its cobbled streets and its squares will make you fall in love.

Declared a Site of Cultural Interest, Cambados has everything necessary to be one of the most touristic towns in the Rías Baixas: historical complex, coastal town,  with a great gastronomic and of course wine offer, highlighting its Albariño Wine Festival, of National Tourist Interest.

Pontevedra

Although Pontevedra is a city, its beauty means that it has to be on our list of charming villages in Galicia, because, among many other compelling reasons not to miss it, the capital of the province where our hotel is located in the Rías Baixas, has one of the best preserved old towns in Spain, declared a Historic-Artistic Site. Walking through the city you can enjoy the Plaza de la Leña, the Provincial Museum, the Plaza de la Herrería, the Plaza de la Verdura or the Plaza del Teucro.

Going down to the river, in the Mugártegui square you can find the manor house that is currently occupied by the Regulatory Council of the D.O. Rías Baixas, just before reaching the Abastos square.

As for religious architecture, the Old Convent of San Domingos and the Basilica of Santa María a Mayor, declared a National Monument, stand out.

Villagarcía De Arousa

Capital of the Ría de Arousa and one of the most charming inland towns in the Rías Baixas, Villagarcía has an important civil architecture with several country houses, among which Rubianes stands out.

If you are lovers of experiential tourism, you cannot miss this getaway where you can visit two emblems of Galician tourism and culture. In addition to the visit to the Pazo de Rubianes, you can visit a traditional winery.

Next to the historic center, next to the Pazo Vista Alegre, you can also see the Castro de Alobre.

Castro A Lanzada

A Lanzada is not only one of the best beach areas in the Rías Baixas. It is, without a doubt, a place with a lot of history.

It was already an inhabited area since the 7th century BC and, next to Area Gorda beach and Praia de Foxos, there is a small castro, a commercial factory and a Roman necropolis next to the current Ermita da Lanzada.

This area, due to its fantastic location, was a great commercial site where some of these vestiges of history can still be seen.

Ribadumia

With an important natural and cultural heritage, its more than 10 km of river paths stand out, where you can see mills, wash houses and fountains. Especially notable is the Castro de Besomaño, located on Monte Do Castro.

If you are one of those who like the tranquility of a walk in a charming village in Galicia and much less touristy than the rest of the places mentioned in this list, Ribadumia is a perfect visit to disconnect from the daily routine during your holidays in Galicia and enjoy the calm of a small Galician town.

Catoira

This small town is located in the Arousa estuary, where the Ulla River and the D’Arousa estuary meet.

Gastronomy, culture, visits… Catoira brings together all the ingredients to be one of the most recommended charming towns in Galicia. The Torres del Oeste stand out above all, a fortified complex from the 9th century and one of the most important fortresses in Galicia.
